Children and the Library

The Children's section of the Hampstead Public Library is a fun and educational place with offerings for all ages, from board books for the very young, through picture books, beginning readers, chapter books, and non-fiction and reference books for older children. Audiovisual materials to check out include children's stories on audio tape and CD-ROM; and videos based on children's stories.

Books and other materials can be accessed through the computer catalog which is very user friendly (we use the same program as the Hampstead Schools).

The Hampstead Mother's Club donated kid-size furniture to complete the new renovations to the Children's Section of the library. Drop in and check it out.

Children's Computers

There are two exciting new computers just for kids with lots and lots of new games and programs located in the far corner of the children’s area in the library.

They are called Early Literacy Stations and are produced by a company called "AWE” (Advanced Workstations in Education) especially for children from 2 to 8 years of age. They feature kid friendly programs that will introduce them to reading, math, art, typing and lots of other stuff while they have fun playing the games.

Children's Display Case

Another gift from the Hampstead Mother's Club to the Children's Section of the library is a glass display case.

Children are encouraged to display their collections in our case. Does anyone have a collection they would like to share? Sign up at the circulation desk and you will have the opportunity to display your cherished objects in our children's display case.

The collection will stay in the case for approximately one month, and you can choose a prize book as a token of our appreciation.
